GCC linker "undefined reference to"

Shit. Why do the hell they need the libraries to be specified after the input file? I wasted the whole day playing with Modelsim FLI just to figure out that it is ok and 

gcc -lmtipli -o romc.sl romc.o

fails since it must be

gcc -o romc.sl romc.o -lmtipli

Who decides that some options work in the head, and which must be placed in the tail? Idiots.
